Ministry Moments by Rev Don Dowling
Ministry Moments. I’m a retired minister of the Uniting Church in Australia, now in my seventies., I’ve been in ministry for 52 years, 43 of which I was ordained. I trained in WA at the University of WA and in Victoria at the United Faculty of Theology, which included Uniting Church, Anglican, and Jesuit candidates. So, as you can imagine I had a very broad experience educationally and theologically, which led me into a wide variety of ministries. I’m sitting now in my study reflecting on many all stories of my life as a minister. The stories are just that. I’m not aiming to push religion or bash a particular point of theology, just to share stories and in most cases they made a difference to either myself but more importantly to other people. I hope you enjoy. These stories are recorded on the land of the Wadandi People of the Noongar nation.

Part of my time as a Minister was spent working at the Warehouse Cafe in Shenton Park.
We established a cafe not just a place where people came and had coffee and food, but from time to time customers would chat about various aspects of their lives and we were there to listen.
Today’s Podcast is about one of our customers who we called The Coke and Cake man. His time with us was unique.
